This one day course is aimed at medical students who want to know more about pre-hospital and trauma care and who wish to gain hands on instruction.

The course aims to improve the initial assessment and management of injured patients, be they in hospital or out of hospital. We want medical students to go away from the course having a better idea of the injury patterns and basics of trauma care. The course will consist of some lectures to give you an idea of the theory and evidence for current trauma care, but over half the course is focussed on acquisition of practical skills and familiarisation with the kit in common use. The final part of the day will involve moulages, where scenarios will be mocked up for you to manage with the skills you have learnt during the day.

The course is suitable for all levels of student.
