This
one day course is aimed at health care professionals who already have some
knowledge of pre-hospital medical equestrian event care but wish to expand their
abilities to provide medical cover at equestrian events where riders may be
under 12 years of age. Much of the more general pre-hospital trauma teaching (such as is contained in ECEQE) is not repeated in PECEQE to allow more in-depth consideration of special paediatric issues, so some prior knowledge is important.
It is run in conjunction with the Medical Equestrian Association and aims to improve the initial assessment and management of injured riders. The course will consist of a minimum of lectures, the emphasis being on acquisition of practical skills in the field!
The course cost is £179 (£185 online via PayPal), and this includes all course materials in electronic format, lunch, refreshments throughout the day and a certificate of attendance.
We have applied for CPD points for the PECEQE course from the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Previous courses were awarded 5 points.
The last course was Sunday 29th March 2008 at Reaseheath College, Cheshire. You can see some photos here.
