The Faculty consists of doctors and paramedics with interest and experience in trauma and pre-hospital care. Many of them provide care at equestrian or other sporting events.
Dr Ted Adams MSc, MBChB,
DFSRH, Cert Mgmt (HSC) (Open)Ted works as an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist during the day. He has published
and given talks on emergency care at equestrian events, and is a member of the
Medical Equestrian Association’s committee. He attends equestrian events, both
as a doctor and course controller/commentator.
Mr Daniel Perry MB ChB (Hons),
MRCSDaniel has been involved in equestrian medicine for about 5 years. He has provided medical cover at a range of 3-day events which include Belton, Osberton, Weston Park, Oasby, Stafford amongst others. This has given him valuable experience in coping with the entire spectrum of trauma in the pre-hospital environment. Daniel attended Hong Kong to help prepare medical cover for the Equestrian section of the 2008 Olympics and has been involved in discussions for the 2012 Olympic games. Aside from his equestrian interests he is doing a PhD to look at Perthes disease (a hip disease) in children.
Dr Clare Hammell MB ChB (Hons), FRCAClare is a senior anaesthetic registrar and teaches on several pre-hospital trauma courses. She has been published in the BMJ writing about head trauma, and has previously flown with the Great North Air Ambulance.
Mark is a former orthopaedic trainee who has subsequently changed career path to general practice. He brings his previous in-hospital trauma interest to his current pre-hospital work. He also designed and maintains the website.
Alun is an anaesthetic registrar who has in interest in pre-hospital trauma, and has provided medical cover at the British Superbikes at Silverstone.
James is an anaesthetic registrar who has in interest in trauma, and has provided medical cover at several equestrian events. He is currently working with for Emergency Medical Retrieval Service (Helimed 5) in the West of Scotland, based in Glasgow.
Suzannah is a Plastic and Hand Surgeon and an ATLS instructor. She provides cover for equestrian events including Pony Club, Point to Points and Three Day Events (including Badminton), and currently has two racehorses in training at home. She is currently Vice Chair of the Medical Equestrian Association.
